水素エネルギーの効率的な利用には、「つくる・ためる・はこぶ」といった水素を供給する側のシステムと、水素から電力や動力を取り出して利用する側のシステムの適切な連携が必要です。また、それらを社会へ導入していくための都市システムの設計も求められます。

本グループでは、水素エネルギーの高度利活用に基づく水素社会を早期に実現することを目的に、水素ステーションや燃料電池システムの設置・運用といった水素インフラの構築にかかる様々な課題解決に取り組んでいます。また、水道や通信網と同様に誰もが何処でも水素エネルギーの恩恵を得られるまちづくりへ向けて、これからの社会に必要な都市システムを探求しています。
